Accounts payable and receivable, on your own rules.
Most AP and AR tools assume a standard workflow. Larger finance teams, accounting firms and family offices rarely have one. Segmental learns your rules from your contracts, policies and past decisions, resolves the routine cases, and sends each exception to a person with the evidence attached.

Why this is still manual
In larger finance teams, AP and AR are full of exceptions: vendor terms that differ by contract, invoices split across entities, short payments, credits and disputes. Standard tools handle the easy cases and leave the rest in email and spreadsheets, where the rules live in a few people's heads.
At a global consumer products company, Segmental resolves most AP exceptions before they reach a person, using vendor terms, coding rules and past resolutions.
From invoice to resolution
- Take it inInvoices, remittances and payment notices arrive by email, upload or from your ERP, and each is matched to the vendor or client, entity and contract.
- Match and codePayables are matched to purchase orders and contract terms and coded with your GL rules. Receipts are matched to open invoices.
- Resolve what the rules coverKnown patterns, such as recurring credits, split invoices or partial payments, resolve on their own, with the rule recorded.
- Route the exceptionsAnything new goes to the right person with the contract, the history and past resolutions attached.
- Post and learnEntries are prepared for your accounting system, and each resolved exception becomes a rule for the next case.
Where finance teams use it
What it does, and what it doesn't
We would rather you know the boundaries up front.
What it does
- Learns your coding, approval and matching rules from your own contracts, policies and past decisions.
- Resolves routine exceptions on its own and records which rule applied.
- Sends every new exception to a person with the contract, history and past resolutions attached.
- Prepares entries for your accounting system, such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Dynamics 365.
What it doesn’t do
- It does not replace your ERP or accounting system.
- It does not hold or move money. Payments are released from your own bank or payment platform.
- Nothing is paid or written off without a human approval.
How a pilot works
Every pilot runs on your own data, in your own environment.
- Pick one workflowAP for one entity, or cash application for one group of clients.
- Load your rules and historyVendor terms, coding rules, approval chains and a few months of past exceptions.
- Run alongside your teamMeasure exceptions resolved, time to close and misclassifications against today.
Built on the Segmental platform
Every product runs on the same data, knowledge graph and rules engine, so new workflows reuse what your firm has already taught the system.
